Our Interior Design Trend Forecast for 2025

This year we are predicting the world of interior design trends will continue to evolve with a focus on sustainability, innovation and personal expression. From eco-conscious materials to bold design choices, the future of interior design is a beautiful blend of functionality and aesthetics. Whether you're a seasoned design enthusiast or someone just starting out on your home reno journey, we hope you get inspired by our trend forecast for the year ahead.

1. Personal Expression

The minimalist aesthetic will remain popular, but with a twist – more emphasis will be placed on making bold, stylish statements with furniture and eclectic decor, creating environments that reflect individual personality. We love that the Dulux Colour Forecast 2025 encompasses feelings of nostalgia, with retro influences and vintage-inspired elements making a strong comeback. Think 70s-inspired hues, mid-century modern pieces, and the warmth of sentimental decor – these touches bring a sense of comfort to the home.

2. Quality First

Quality takes centre stage, with a focus on Australian-Made products and sustainable materials. Materials like solid timber, natural stone and premium fabrics are becoming the foundation of stylish, timeless interiors. This emphasis on craftsmanship means investing in pieces that not only look great but stand the test of time – whether it’s a handcrafted bedside table or a well-built sofa, quality is the key to creating spaces that truly endure.

3. Woodland Haven

Bringing the beauty of nature indoors while emphasising the richness of walnut woodgrains and other earthy, organic elements. Earthy colours such as moss green, deep browns and clay tones evoke the tranquillity of a forest, while tactile textures like woven textiles add depth and comfort. Soft and ambient lighting creates a cozy, intimate atmosphere, perfect for relaxing and unwinding in a nature-inspired sanctuary.

4. Tranquil Escape

The ‘spa bathroom’ trend isn’t new, but it’s evolving and becoming more sophisticated. Mocha Mousse – The Pantone Colour of the Year 2025 is a rich brown colour brings a sense of warmth and tranquility, perfect for creating cozy, grounding spaces that feel both elegant and beautiful. We’re predicting an increase in freestanding baths, as well as larger, walk-in showers. By incorporating elements of nature, such as woodgrain finishes, and natural stone, will further elevate the space.

5. Customised Spaces

Customised storage solutions will be a key focus, with modular furniture and adjustable shelving options allowing for greater flexibility and personalisation. With a move towards more open, airy spaces, custom vanities with unique finishes and tailored configurations will be in high demand. 6. Sustainable Materials Take Centre Stage

Expect to see a rise in the use of eco-friendly materials in bathroom furniture, fixtures and finishes. Many homeowners are already seeking out sustainable alternatives such as composite stone and reclaimed timber, both of which offer durability and a natural, rustic aesthetic. After we visited the Milan Design Show earlier in the year, “We noticed sustainability was evident in the use of recycled materials and there was a focus on water-saving fixtures and energy-efficient lighting”, noted Eloise Weston, Lead Creative at ADP.
